Dental Services FAQ

Dental Service FAQs

We know that there are a lot of questions concerning dental health. Check out our blog for more up-to-date news about us and get tips on day to day dental hygiene.

  • Why is it necessary to visit the dentist regularly?

Crisis treatment, visiting a dentist only when there is a problem, is never a good practice. Patients may feel they are saving money. As result, neglected gums and teeth can end up costing a lot more down the line. Dental problems often do not show any symptoms until they have reached an advanced stage of disease.

  • Is brushing enough or should I also floss?

Brushing is great and offers numerous benefits. Flossing is equally important. Flossing helps reduce the amount of bacteria in a person’s mouth. Flossing helps rid the mouth of bacteria that’s lodged between the teeth. Without flossing, plaque remains between the teeth, which can harden into tartar. Only your dentist can remove hardened tartar.

With proper tooth care, you can certainly minimize the number of cavities that you or your family might get. Make it a habit to spend two to three minutes brushing your teeth after every meal. Floss at least once a day. Always clean your teeth after eating sweet items.

  • Are there dangers in oral piercing?

While oral piercing is widely accepted, there are dangers involved. Piercing can cause swelling, pain, drooling, infection, scarring, tooth loss, bleeding, and an increased flow of saliva. None of these conditions are pleasant. Before piercing, consult with your dentist. The same advice applies if you already have piercings and you are experiencing discomfort or pain.

  • What is the cause of morning breath?

The cause of morning breath is a reduction of saliva. Bacteria forms on the teeth and in crevices on the tongue’s taste buds. This bacterial breaks down food particles, which in turn produce sulfur compounds. Sulfur compounds are the elements that give breath its bad odor. Increased saliva can help dissolve the foul-smelling sulfur compounds. If long-term bad breath persists, schedule an appointment with your dentist.

  • Does whitening toothpastes really work?

That depends. Toothpastes that claim to whiten all vary in their actual ability to whiten teeth. You have to be careful in using toothpastes that can effectively remove stains. They may also destroy your teeth’s enamel in the process. Some of these toothpastes may have contain harsh abrasives, which can contribute to increases too sensitivity. Consult with your dentist before using teeth whiteners.
